It’s been eighteen months since violent conflict broke out in Sudan, triggering violence and instability across the country and the wider region, tearing apart millions of children’s lives.
Today, 14 million children in Sudan need support to overcome the horrifying impacts of this conflict. They’ve seen their homes, hospitals, playgrounds and schools bombed, looted and occupied. They’ve lost loved ones and been subject to unspeakable violence. They’ve been cut off from the very basics like food, shelter, and healthcare.
Over 18,000 people have reportedly been killed as a direct impact of the violence since April - but the true figure is likely to be much higher.
As the conflict enters its second year, Sudan is now the largest child displacement crisis in the world, with 4.6 million children uprooted from their homes as a result of the ongoing
conflict.
Sudan is also facing one of the world's worst hunger crises. 3.7 million children are malnourished, including 730,000 who are severely malnourised. 220,000 children are expected to die in the coming months if their nutritional and hunger needs are not met.
